Keys???

So, the kids and I had quite an adventure today. As I was preparing to pick Megan up from preschool, I got all the babies in their car seats, blankets on, pacifiers, etc. Then, I go searching for the keys. Hmmm, where did they go? Not on the key rack, not in my purse, not in my pockets, not in a diaper bag....they are nowhere to be found and it's now 11:40. Megan gets out at 11:45 and no babies are loaded in the car yet. I continue to frantically search, I call Tim, almost in tears, but not quite. After everything we've been through, are lost keys really something to cry about? Not really. So, I made an executive decision. I grabbed the double stroller, the Baby Bjorn, and Megan's umbrella. Off we went, strolling in the rain to pick up Megan from school. We were late, of course, but everyone faired just fine and we made it back just a bit on the damp side. And wouldn't you know, just as we hit the road to head home, "Bingo"! I remember that I wore my red zip sweatshirt yesterday. That's where the keys are :-)

Family Fun

The little girls had some fun pretending to ride in a boat together. Don't they look so cute?? They have a great time playing with their daddy, especially Hailey, as she seems to be the daddy's girl of the bunch! I wonder where they are off too??

Megan and Tim had fun planting our new blueberry bushes. Megan is becoming quite the little gardner, and last year the two of them went to pick blueberries at a place she calls "Blueberry Hill". Now she has her own blueberry bushes to take care of and pick from. Yum Yum!

We also had some fun trying to get some pictures of the girls in their matching outfits and one of the three babies together. It's amazingly tricky to get three babies to cooperate. A friend of ours comes over to take professional pictures every few months, but I decided to give it try.

And lastly, Molly had fun sitting in the stroller like a big girl, finally! I think she liked it, but I'm not sure she's for full-time big girl stroller riding. We got all the kids packed up for a short stroll around the neighborhood and just as we were walking out the door, it started to rain. I couldn't pass up the photo op and since I have a raincover for the single stroller, Megan, Molly and I headed out for a quick walk. Tim joined us a while later after the rain stopped. It was fun and like I said, I think Molly had a great time with the change in perspective!


Well, four days until the big 1 year post delivery day! It's gone so quickly! We are planning a visit to the NICU, so watch for those photos next :-)

We are trying to get Molly to put things in her mouth, so here she is with one of those clever Gerber wagon wheel things. Hmmm.....maybe she'll get the hang of it someday :-)

Fun and Friends

We managed to get out again and enjoy some nice weather. We visited a park with our friends Leandra, Isabella, and Jack. Megan, Isabella, Leandra and I became good friends when we lived across the street from each other and we hope that someday, Jack and Andrew can pal around together too.

I tried letting Hailey sit out on the blanket. Boy, was that a treat! She was into everything...the lunch plates, the picnic bag, anything within sight and reach, she had her hands on. Busy little girl! She even tried tasting the handle...kind of reminds of a bulldog in this picture :-)

We also had a little fun on the swing....about this time all the babies were starting to get hungry and grouchy, so only Hailey got a ride. Next time :-)

Isabella and Megan really enjoy playing together. They don't get to see each other enough!

Overall it was a fun trip to the park. We look forward to many more in the coming months :-)

Therapy Thoughts

As promised, I'm updating new information, from therapy to weight gain :-) We went in for our latest round of RSV shots this Friday, and we had weight gain all around. Andrew, of course, was the champ. He now weighs 17 lbs 7 oz., which was a 6 oz gain from a week and half ago. He lost some ounces between dr. visits last time, so this is the latest for him. Hailey had a 10 oz gain over the last month and how weighs 14 lb 11 oz, and Molly had a 6 1/2 oz gain and now weighs

11 lb 14 1/2 oz. So, that was all good news. Both girls' lungs sounded great, but Andrews were still a bit weezy. His ears cleared up, which was great news for us, but not so much fun for him, as it means no more middle of the night, sympathy visits from mom! Time for some tough love.....so overall, the triplets' health is looking good. Cold and flu season is almost over and I feel like we accomplished something by avoiding antibiotics and hospital visits! Knock on wood!

On to the fun stuff. I took some pics of the little ones working with the OT and PT, thinking you might like to see what they have been up to.

This exercise helps them learn the motion of going from sitting to the crawling position, and allows them to practice reaching for toys and bearing weight on the arms. Haily is getting very close to being up on all fours and really enjoys sitting. Andrew likes to lean over and reach for the toys, but isn't much into sitting. He is still having a hard time. Molly just goes with the flow....she is learning that her body has lots of different ways it can move.
Here Andrew is with the OT, Kim, working on keeping his back straight rather than slouching. That takes some core strength that is still developing for him.
Here he is with the PT, Kirsten, working on the same skill. She also does exercises that stretch the muscles and get the joints moving the right direction. And Kirsten also works with them on weight bearing activities to help build arm and leg strength.

Molly is working on rolling from back to front and this exercise is to encourage her to reach for something while on her side. In turn, she will be more motivated to go all the way to her tummy. She is getting much stronger and quicker, so hopefully it won't be long.

The idea here is for Molly to put her arms down and bear some weight, thus increasing her strength and getting her ready for crawling. The work that the OT and PT do with the babies is really amazing. I can see the results even a few days later, as I watch them move around and practice their new skills. It is a true blessing for our family to have this available to us!

Marvelous Molly

Okay, I know I said I would post again on Friday after I got new weights, but I just couldn't pass this up. We had a monumental moment today. Do you see that bottle in the picture? Well, it's a 2 ounce bottle, of which, Molly took all 60 mL in one feeding, by mouth! And in about 7 minutes flat. That's right! Even Andrew doesn't eat that fast. Now, for most babies, this is no great feat, but for Molly, it's a definite WOW! She has never, in her almost one year of life, taken that much in one sitting! I can remember 4 months ago being thrilled that she took 10 mL. The growth this little one has made is truly amazing. Keep up the prayers and positive thoughts. This may have been a fluke thing, but hey, flukes can lead to something, can't they? Take care everyone!

New Business

Well, I don't have any new pictures to share today, but I bet you've been waiting for some updated info, so I will fill you in on what's been happening in our fort. Not too much, let me just say that! We've survivied the latest round of crud, getting by again without any antibiotics or trips to the hospital. We did have to take Andrew in to convenience care and then to see his regular doctor, but all is well. He had an ear infection that, blessedly, he was able to conquer on his own. I suppose that explains the sleepless nights and frequent fussiness. So unlike him!! Needless to say, it's been a long few weeks. Last night was the first night in weeks that all three babies slept from bedtime to their regular waking time, which is around 7. Before that, either Andrew or Hailey, sometimes both, would wake anywhere between 1 am and 5 am. Not my idea of a good time, but we survivied. Molly pretty much sailed through the cold with just a bit of fussiness here and there, but nothing to count! The only thing I noticed was she didn't take the bottle as well. However, after pulling her tube out today, she took a record 5 + ounces total for the afternoon! She was a champ. A couple of times she even took 40 mL, which is ten more than what she normally takes in a bottle feeding. Who knows, maybe we can be done with this feeding tube by 1 year corrected! She is going to be receiving some in-home feeding therapy soon, which I hope will move things along. In addition to that, all three are receiving OT, PT, and cognitive therapy in home as well! I tell ya, the blessings just keep on coming! Andrew is getting closer to sitting up and getting up on all fours, as is Hailey. She is working on moving from sitting to crawling position, but still hasn't figured out the forward motility concept. She pivots on her tummy and goes backwards! Molly is doing well with her rolling from front to back, in both directions now and she's getting stronger in the sitting position. Hopefully it won't be long now. And she has become quite vocal these days as well. It is so incredibly cute!
