March for Babies

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to share some new info. Andrew visited the doctor this weekend and, hold on to your hats, he's a whopping 17 lbs 5.5 oz. He just doesn't stop
growing :-) The other two are doing just fine and we're working on getting them all healthy again.

Week in Review

Wow, what a great week we've had. Lot's of things happening, all good thankfully. At the moment, all the kiddos are asleep and what better way to spend my free time than updating my loyal BLOG visitors! Thanks so much for taking the time to follow-up on my family, even now, nearly a year after the birth of the triplets. It's very heart-warming to know you are still with us. Anyway, on to the fun stuff....The week started out with the beautiful weather and I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to get out and enjoy it. On Monday, I met up in Enumclaw with my older sister and we took the kids, all 4 of them, out for a walk that ended up lasting about 2 1/2 hours. Yes, little Megan lasted the whole time with the only complaint being that her feet were hot. As you can see, the babies had a great time as well. And although this wasn't their first visit to Starbucks, it certainly deserved some coverage, as both Hailey and Andrew now sit in the stroller like big kids.

At first, Megan wasn't too hip on getting her picture taken, but she quickly warmed up. How do you like the hair piece? She styled that one all on her own. I must be getting used to her fashion trends, as I didn't even notice it until we were about 15 minutes into the walk. She has always kind of been a trend setter, starting with panties over her diaper when she was 2!

One great thing about a walk, it lulls the little ones right to sleep......

Even in her sleep, sweet little Molly looks like the happiest baby, which she is :-)

He is such a character, I tell ya!

Well, on to other things.....the kids are doing a few new tricks these days. Hailey, as you know, sits on her own now, but the "big kid" stroller ride was new for her. She also has taken a liking to reading. I think someone wants to be just like her big sister!

And check out the big girl, holding her own bottle! I'm not a big fan of having babies feed themselves, but this is a pretty big skill for a little one to develop!

I also introduced a new vegetable, peas! Yummy....apparently, Andrew liked them so well he felt he needed to lick his tray! I kid you not, he spread the peas all over and then picked up the tray and started licking it. Hey, at least he likes his veggies! I told you he was a character. Not only does he perform this trick, he can now be classified as an army crawler. That's right, he gets around by pushing forward with his feet and sliding his torso with the help of his arms.

So, for all of you Molly fans, how about a blast from the past? Recognize this scenario????

Yes, what you are looking at is Molly, safely hidden in her cave. When she was in the NICU, she liked to be covered with a blanket, somewhat creating a cavelike existence. Well, she recently figured out how to create that setting once again! Whatever makes her

happy :-)

All of the beautiful weather this week gave me a chance to get outdoors and even do some yardwork. Well, I pulled a few weeds anyway. I even got Megan and my nephew Jakob to help out.....

So, overall it was a good week, the babies are over their colds and just scooting right along. And when I say scooting, I mean that in every sense of the word. I can't even imagine what it will be like to have 3 mobile babies in my home! Yikes!

Well, I think this posting is a complete mess, but I'm tired of trying to fix it and I want to go to bed. I hope you didn't have too much trouble reading it and looking at the pictures! I think I may go back to the boring pictures in the center, text above and below! Much easier :-)

Visiting Friends

Wow, we had the best day yesterday. Some friends from the NICU, Lisa, Shaune, and Erin, came to visit and have lunch with us. Let me tell you, the babies sure enjoyed those extra snuggles and had a great time playing. I wanted to share some pictures, out the over 100 that were taken, thank you Lisa, so just sit back and enjoy! These gals really had fun during the photo session (s)!

Here, Shaune and Molly are sharing a quiet moment before the other two start vying (sp.?) for her time. Shaune was one of the first nurses to care for Molly. She came on the night after the babies were born. She is actually the first nurse I really remember meeting, as I was pretty out of it those first few days. I remember thinking that Shaune seemed so young, but it turns out she was one of Molly's best nurses. Well, Molly had a lot of "best" nurses, so I should choose my words carefully. Needless to say, they definitely share a special bond and it was great for Molly to see her again. Shaune is the one who assigned the nickname "Molly Smally". I hope she sticks around to see Molly outgrow that nickname!

This is Erin. She was lucky enough to get to take care of Andrew AND Molly. Or, rather, they were the lucky ones. Although primarily Molly's nurse, she played a huge role in catching Andrew's NEC when he returned to the UW after his stint at Children's. She was the first to notice some irregular stool and made sure it was followed up on, even after she was off for the day. She also gave Andrew his very first bath! She will always be a great friend for them and for me. Another fun fact about Erin....her mom was a cuddler on the unit and spent several hours cuddling Molly. What a blessing! Andrew consideres Erin one of his ladies for sure:-)

Molly is getting a little practice sitting up, thanks to the help of Shaune :-)

I suppose Andrew couldn't get off scott-free with that beautiful head of hair....his sissies will make sure of that!

This is our friend Lisa. Boy, will these babies' lives be forever etched in the memories of her life. Apparently, we caused quite a stir the night the triplets were born. It was Lisa's first night as Charge Nurse, which means she was in charge of the nursing staff and the comings and goings of the delivery room, among other things I'm sure. When the day charge left, there was nothing significant on the board for delivery, it would be a quiet night. However, shortly after she took over, we came along. Spontaneous triplets, 24 weeks, no warning. Oops! Sorry Lisa! But you did a great job and we love you for that. These little ones will always know how hard you worked for them that night. It took me a long time to finally ask Lisa what that night was like, but I love hearing the story, even a year later. She became one of Molly's very best nurses and has continued to advocate for her both during her stays at Children's and now. Lisa has come to visit us several times and even took care of Andrew and Hailey for me at Children's on a few occasions so I could visit with Molly. We hope she will be around as our friend for a long time!

Molly and Lisa are clearly enjoying their time together. Lisa is our friend who got Molly to eat a whole cube of baby food pears!

Ah, what a cozy group! Erin and Shaune enjoyed some more cuddle time with the kiddos, and as you can see, Andrew never gets enough snuggles from his gals! Megan joined in on the fun as well! Boy, we sure are blessed to have such wonderful friends :-) Not only do they come visit us at home, but during Molly's solo stay at the hospital, they volunteered their time to hang out with Andrew and Hailey at U Village while I got some rare Molly time in. Thanks gals!

All in a day's work! Molly is enjoying one of her favorite past times with Erin, getting rocked to sleep. Thanks Erin! You're a gem :-)

All in all it was a great day! We had a fun time visiting, and the babies took great naps after that. I hope our friends come again soon!

Super Sitter

I thought it would be fun to share this exciting news with you all.....Hailey is now a full-time sitter. What new elements this brings to her world. She gets to see life from a whole new perspective and is loving it. As you can see, she enjoys toys around her to entertain her and give her busy little hands something to do!

All About Megan

I realized that I've spent a good portion of the BLOG space on the triplets and decided I needed some Megan coverage in there as well. As most of you know, she started preschool this year and is loving it. She attends a christian preschool just around the corner from our house, which is very convenient, and has the extra benefit of having two of her good friends in class with her, Brooke and Hannah. They all attended the same place for childcare and I work/worked with both of their moms. She was very excited on her first day and didn't hesitate even the littlest bit when it was time for me to go. So far, they have had fun learning how to write their names, visiting the pumpkin patch for a field trip, and singing their hearts out for their Christmas program.

We spent Halloween with our good friends, Bob, Laurie, and Brooke. The girls had a great time in their costumes, trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. Boy, did they come back with lots of candy! Here she is singing at her Christmas program....

Megan also keeps busy by doing crazy things like stuffing herself into a storage bin, making bathing suits out of grocery sacks, and more civilized events like walking around in the rain with her umbrella and boots :-) Hey, you gotta give her credit, she's one creative little gal who has to find lots of ways to entertain herself!

Most recently she enjoyed signing her valentine's for the party at school. It's such an eye-opening experience to see these things from a parent's perspective rather than a teacher's. She was just delighted with the idea of giving valentine's to everyone and then, in return, coming home with a bag full of treats and cards of her own!

So, overall, Megan is doing great and is growing up to be quite the little lady! And what would life be without a nap on the couch at the end of the day with Daddy!

The Great Outdoors

Well, in a rare moment of down time I'm going to get in as much updating as I can. Megan enjoyed some time outside in the recent snow we had. What a treat it was to see her running and playing outside of the house. That doesn't happen too often these days, so it was refreshing, for both her and me!

We also had fun taking Andrew out in the stroller to get the mail. It was his first time sitting in the stroller like a big kid, but I don't think he enjoyed it nearly as much as we did. However, after getting the mail, he was a bit happier, as some pictures of a potential girl friend arrived! Oh Violet, you are a beauty! Oh, and WSU loyalists, take note of Andrew's hat! That's right....he's sporting the WSU logo :-) thanks to Auntie Brandi.
