If you read my blog regularly, you already know that Hailey and Andrew are both walking, and Molly is consistently crawling on all 4s and getting into the bear claw position. What you might not know is....
Andrew is beginning to say words when prompted, such as outside, mama, dada, bird, hot, and out. He can also sign for more, all done, please, milk, and down. I think I even saw him doing the signs for bunny and bird (not giving the bird...) today when we were reading a book. Andrew is also making the noise for dog-oof oof, and cow-mmm. He is crawling up stairs very nicely but still lacks the full sense of safety awareness to get himself down. He is standing himself up without assitance and still working on his balance. Oh, he's also cutting 4 molars along with a couple of incisors. That's not fun! He definitely is keeping me busy, mostly with the need for redirection and physical removal from certain situations :-)
Hailey is moving along nicely as well. Although she is just beginning to show an attempt at specific words, she definitely has the "conversation" piece down. She is also just starting to attempt some signs, such as cat and down. They are always accompanied with a whine or grunt though, just so you know she isn't happy about following a request :-) She's taken a liking to Molly, which just warms my heart, and the two of them will giggle and squeal at each over and over. That's not to say they don't have their squabbles as well, but I'm just so happy to see them interacting. She's starting to try a quicker walking pace, so I assume she's on her way to running. We'll see. And this week during PT, she tried walking up and down the stairs. She can do it with assitance, but has a ways to go.
Molly is just a spitfire, in case you didn't know. She is using signs for more and down, she has started to babble back and forth with people and has also learned to demand attention. She loves snuggling and slow dancing with daddy, which is just adorable. She is beginning to pull up to standing, with assistance to get the right position, and can even crawl up stairs. Although, we are working on correcting her technique, as she tends to roll her ankles and nearly turn her feet backwards! She's doing a little better with eating due to the help of a tool called a Z-vibe. It's basically a stick that vibrates and you can attach anything from a chew toy to a pacifier to a spoon. She really seems to like it. She is up to 14 lbs. 4 oz. (as of Sunday). She's also starting to share some clothes with Hailey, which sounds funny, given the difference in their weights. But Molly has grown a lot in length! Oh, the most exciting news is that Molly can drink from a straw. She doesn't take even close to the amount needed, but just the fact that she can do it is huge. It's great for her oral motor skills and comes in handy for getting as much volume as possible in. She can also point to her nose, eyes, hair, ears, teeth, tongue, knees, toes, and button.
All three of the little ones can do some of the hand motions for Itsy Bitsy Spider, Row Row Row Your Boat and The Wheels on the Bus. It's rather fun....
Megan is doing great in school. She is beginning to sound out words and has an amazing ability to create pictures with tons of detail. Her teacher said she is a great student and she would never know Megan was a young kindergartner. She's working on mastering her numbers and is really enjoying all the fun activities (even homework) that come with school. She finished soccer and has moved on to gymnastics. Hopefully I'll get some pictures soon. She's started doing her "catalog" shopping for Christmas, where she looks through the toy catalogs and circles all the things she would like to have. Basically anything that looks like it's for a girl!
So, overall, my children are well and we are just getting ready for the looooong winter months. I'll be searching for some great ideas to stimulate and occupy my busy little ones while we hibernate for the winter :-)
