Well, yesterday was another fun-filled day for us. After a night of fitful rest then sleeping in, we rushed around to get everyone out the door by 9:15. The babies had an appointment to get their fourth round of RSV vaccines, which is always a treat. Thankfully my older sister is willing to take those Fridays off from work to help me out. The fun part is getting their weight updates. Molly gained another 4 ounces since last Tuesday, a week and a half ago. She now weighs 11 lbs 8 oz., Hailey is at 14 lbs 4 oz., and, the big boy, has reached 16 lbs 12 oz. The doctor looked at him and said "Now, you can't possibly keep that up." That is an 11 ounce gain in a month. I think some of that is from linear growth, but we won't get new a length measurement until next month. Hailey's weight gain is still slow, but coming along. The shots went fine, and fortunately, despite this Virus that has creeped its way back into our home, the doc said that all of their lungs sound great! The sad news was that Hailey has an ear infection. I've been waiting, and dreading, for one of these to show up. It appeared that her ear drum had already ruptured and started draining, which is the body's natural way of fighting off the infection, so we are treating it with ear drops and hopefully won't need oral antibiotics. She goes back in two weeks for a recheck.
On to Veggies.....I was getting a little bored with their food choices and realized that they lacked a green in their diet. So, I added a new veggie to their repertoire and Andrew and Hailey seemed to like it just fine. How many 7 months old do you know that will eat asparagus?? Well, you know at least 2. That's right, good old asparagus! They also tried papaya for a fruit and like that as well. What can I say, they like to eat. So far they haven't turned anything down, but they do request that their avacado be mixed with mango. Hey, I can't be picky, right??? Molly is doing fine with her feeds so far. This little cold is kind of annoying for her, causing her to cough a bit more and have trouble breathing through her nose, but she seems to be tolerating the two hour bolus feeds just fine. I'll make a call to the nutritionist and pulmonologist next week to see about another advancement.
Now for Victories. We've been having quite a bit of trouble getting the babies to sleep at night, due to various reasons, and I'm proud to announce that last night we had all three down by 8. Of course, as I turned out the light to head to bed around 9:00, Molly decided she was too uncomfortable and irritable to sleep, so I spent about an hour getting her settled back down, but the only wake up was Hailey at around 3:30 am. Not too bad, considering how things have been over the last couple of weeks. I'll take it. And to top it off, I was able to sleep in just a bit while Tim took over this morning. That was very nice indeed.
